Northington Depot
Case Study
Location: Northington Depot, Hampshire Client: Milestone Infrastructure (M Group) Value: Circa £550,000
Date: Completed 2022
Northington Depot is a remote satellite depot within Hampshire that is used for the management and operation of the cyclical gulley cleansing contract. The depot was originally a WW2 fuel depot and still houses some of the original brick structures.
Disposal of wet gulley waste is a universal issue among highway works and the new waste facility will be a huge benefit, saving both commercially and environmentally.
The project began by excavating the large area formation to allow for load bearing ground, the formation required a complete build up due to being unsuitable.

Foundations were formed to create a retaining wall using formed concrete "lego" blocks, the blocks themselves are made from recycled contaminated materials already stored at the depot that were unsuitable and expensive as disposal.
5 large concrete pours were carried out using a Chem Free alternative mixture designed specifically for this scheme, the initial curing times took some adjustment but the experienced operative on site overcame this and the finish product is exceptional.

A complete drainage solution was installed to ensure any water would be captured and filtered suitably before being passed through to soak aways.
The entire site required new utility services, so we installed 200m of Water, BT and Electrical ducting to specification.

The entire project a carried out whilst keeping the large fleet of Gulley Cleansing vehicles and depot fully operational with as little disruption as possible.

We also created a new car park for the staff on site using 130t of recycled HBM material.
